Is the Modern Data Stack Dead?

The Modern Data Stack has served the data needs of many companies through the 2010s and early 2020s. That said, the Modern Data Stack is pretty old (dating back to 2012 with the launch of AWS Redshift). The benefit of the Modern Data Stack is it brought robust cloud-based data processing and storage to the masses. The flip side is the term itself has become very confusing, with a vast and complicated assortment of vendors pitching themselves as “Modern Data Stack” solutions.

Clearly, it’s time for something to change. Does this mean the Modern Data Stack is dead? Tune into this Monday Morning Data Chat discussion with Joe Reis, Matt Housley, and special guest, Ethan Aaron (co-founder of Portable) to hear about what’s wrong with the Modern Data Stack (and what’s working), and what might come next.
